Mainstream media sucks bigly. The LNP had no intention of doing anything to improve the economic position. They only ever fleece the treasury to grease the palms of their donor mates.

“The sad reality is that, as in Whitlam’s era, newsrooms are refusing to report Labor’s economy fairly. So here is an attempt to redress this. This is not complete, so updates may follow.

Hey look the PM and his mob are really concerned about Australians caught out by Cyclone Anthony. Offer them a stay at his beach house I reckon.

“Mate, what we need is a house,” — #ShaneMoran

“John is planning on riding out the storm in his tent… I’m prepared, I’m ready, I’ll be staying here,” he says. Someone left me some sandbags, so I’ll put sandbags on each tent pole. I’ve got a timber bed in there and I’m 105kg. Seriously, if the tent collapses, I’ll just be trapped inside there until [the storm] passes.” — John

#Albanese stressed that there was no concrete #proposal on the table, nor had #Australia been asked to #contribute troops.

“We haven’t been asked for anything,” he said. “There are #proposals being discussed.”

“If a request is made, we would give #consideration to it.”

No one has asked for it… Just finished a 20 year commitment, this not our #War to participate in.

While there is nothing wrong per say about #conservatism (as in matters of ecology and the environment) it is arguably very unhealthy for society if those same conservative principles are applied to politics. Yet these are precisely the principles and values adopted by the #LNP and its variants. These principles and values are tenaciously held onto by the more radical right-wing of our political systems as well inherent in many religious systems. Two thousand years or so after the last major strain of religious thought was launched, the world hasn’t yet woken up to the ‘slavery’ of #political and #religious conservatism. That is to say, the systems put in place to keep most of us under control are working very well. Homo Sapien seems to be such a slow learner it’s a wonder we survived at all.

Bernard Keane is not known for subtlety. In this article, he enumerates the #F35 ‘s failure points and pointedly calls into question the #Opposition ‘s election promise to purchase more at what appears to be a huge discount - or more accurately an underestimated overall cost.

It is no exaggeration to ask what the #ADF has to say about the 53% mission fitness asserted by the US about the costly fighter. Without any means to dispute what Keane says about the ‘pile of junk’ the aircraft is, I am left wondering if Australia wouldn’t be better off keeping and upgrading our #F18 . The tally of problems goes some ways to explain why the #Labor govt didn’t proced with the #LNP plan to purchase the remaining 28 units to bring the total up to 100 F35 fighters.
