@timrichards I’m sure all the federal public servants in south east qld and northern NSW will appreciate this when the next flood/cyclone/disaster hits. You notice not even the #lnp qld premier is touching this idea.

While there is nothing wrong per say about #conservatism (as in matters of ecology and the environment) it is arguably very unhealthy for society if those same conservative principles are applied to politics. Yet these are precisely the principles and values adopted by the #LNP and its variants. These principles and values are tenaciously held onto by the more radical right-wing of our political systems as well inherent in many religious systems. Two thousand years or so after the last major strain of religious thought was launched, the world hasn’t yet woken up to the ‘slavery’ of #political and #religious conservatism. That is to say, the systems put in place to keep most of us under control are working very well. Homo Sapien seems to be such a slow learner it’s a wonder we survived at all.
