Stew beef (or brisket) marinated in fish sauce, garlic, ginger, Chinese 5-spice, and brown sugar then stewed in broth, soy sauce, sautéed onion, garlic, lemongrass, carrots, various red pepper powders, and chili oil. Served with rice noodles, thinly-sliced onions, cilantro, Thai basil, and lime juice.
