Today is the first day of the Hebrew month of Iyar, pronounced /ee-'yar/ 🌿

א' בְּאִיָּר

A month of healing, movement, and quiet renewal.

To me, Iyar isn’t about dramatic new beginnings —

it’s about steady, gentle growth.

Winter is behind us, spring is in full bloom,

And Iyar invites us to keep going…

Slowly but surely.

In Israel, this month holds some of the most powerful days —

Holocaust Remembrance Day, Memorial Day, and Independence Day —

Reminding us what it means to carry both grief and light at the same time.

Iyar is also known as a month of personal miracles.

A time to ask for healing —

Physical, emotional, or spiritual —

And trust that it’s already on its way, even if you can’t see it yet.

Wishing you a month of sweetness, strength, and renewal 💙

[10:13] How Trump’s call invited Putin to the feast, and put ‘Europe on the menu’

Russian President Vladimir Putin refused to accept President Donald Trump’s offer for a full 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine after their much vaunted call. The Kremlin nonetheless extolled the trust between the two leaders as ushering in a “new world order.” Mr Putin instead offered Trump a partial ceasefire - ending attacks on the Russian energy infrastructure being targeted by Ukraine’s long-range drones, as well as Moscow’s strikes on Ukraine’s power grid - with the other issues delegated to working groups. This deal would create the likelihood that peace efforts could become bogged down for months as Russia continues pushing into Ukraine three years after Moscow’s full-scale invasion. Mr Trump’s conversation with Putin appeared to signal Russia’s re-emergence as one of a handful of great powers deciding the fates of smaller nations, recognizing a role for Moscow in resolving global conflicts in the Middle East and elsewhere. It continued a theme of making major decisions affecting Ukraine when Kyiv is absent from the table.

The issue here is that 28 days doesn't match up with any lunar cycles. The synodic month is a shade over 29½ days long, so any timekeeping system that synchronises with the phases of the moon will have months of 29 or 30 days.

The sidereal and draconic months are just over 27 days long; months that synchronise with those moon cycles will occasionally be 28 days long, but will more often have 27 days.

♦️#Long #COVID♦️not only affects adults but also #children.

While many people recover quickly from COVID, some don't, experiencing symptoms that can last for #months or #years.

A new study in the Journal of the American Medical Association sheds light on the effect a #coronavirus infection can have on #children over a longer period.

“In school-aged children, we heard commonly that children were experiencing trouble with their #memory, focusing, #headaches, having trouble #sleeping, and stomach #pain,” Gross told Salon.
“And in the teenagers, we were hearing about symptoms related to fatigue and pain, having body or muscle or joint pain, being very tired or sleepy, having low energy, as well as having trouble with memory and focusing.”

A unique symptom the researchers saw in the teenage group was changes in or a #loss of #smell or #taste.
Additionally, researchers found clusters of symptoms that are unique to school-aged children and teenagers. The first were symptoms that 🆘 affect every organ system in the body.🆘

“These are the children with the highest burden of symptoms,” Gross said, adding that caregivers described these children as having a 😨“lower quality of life and more impact on their overall health.”
“The second type of long COVID we also saw across both the ages was predominantly characterized by fatigue and pain.”

Intriguing Autopsies

Traces in the blood and stool of patients experiencing protracted symptoms suggest that SARS-CoV-2 might be holed up in the #gut, #fat or other tissues that give shelter from the body’s immune defenses.

Researchers at the US National Institutes of Health who conducted meticulous autopsies on the bodies of 44 #Covid victims found viral genetic material throughout patients’ #bodies and #brains for as long as 7 1/2 #months after symptoms began.

In one case, virus particles isolated from the brain were grown in a lab dish, proving they were fully functional and capable of replicating.

“The predominant damage continues to appear to be in the lungs,” said Daniel Chertow, who led the research at the NIH’s emerging pathogens section, “but oh boy, we really need to better understand what type of damage is done in all these other places

As the #Covid-19 scourge enters a fourth year, patients like one uncovered by tracing back through miles of waste pipes and drains are nudging researchers closer to answers for key questions: namely,

* where do worrisome new mutants come from?

*And what’s their role in #LongCovid, the mysterious post-infection ailment that afflicts more than 140 million people globally?

Scientists are exploring the possibility that some of the most infectious versions of the coronavirus — omicron and its descendants — came from #chronically #infected individuals whose immune systems were weakened by disease, drugs or both.

Research released in December shows the virus can #persist throughout the #body and #brain for #months. That suggests it may be able to hide out in human cells and tissues, not unlike the way HIV and the shingles-causing chickenpox virus do.
