Brian Jopek<p>A favorite scene from what is probably my favorite James Bond flick. Of course, the ‘63 Aston Martin DB5 is the star here. <br><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/MoviesOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MoviesOfMastodon</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/CarsOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CarsOfMastodon</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/Skyfall" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Skyfall</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/CarNerd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CarNerd</span></a> <br><a href="https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=T93T9Udh_5s" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">m.youtube.com/watch?v=T93T9Udh</span><span class="invisible">_5s</span></a></p>
OtherRyn<p>I just watched Don't Worry Darling and my husband fell asleep before it was over.</p><p>It had an interesting premise but didn't quite stick the landing. </p><p>It's not a movie I'd recommend but it's also not one I would flag people away from. There are better and there are worse out there. 6/10</p><p>It would definitely be a prime candidate for my "acceptable to make a remake of" list. The qualifications are:<br>Good bones<br>Mishandled execution of the original <br>Cannot be a cult classic</p><p>Also, we could fix the egg foley wrongness. Not sure when I became a foley snob but that's the world we're living in now I guess.</p><p><a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/MoviesOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MoviesOfMastodon</span></a></p>

Zorro<p>Good analysis. Standalone crowd pleasers are great but complex jigsaw puzzles of canon across mixed media? Brian Jopek<p>40 frickin’ years. Friends of mine and I went to see the flick at a theater in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska (there’s a rockin town!) the first weekend it opened nationwide. <br><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/MoviesOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MoviesOfMastodon</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/TheBreakfastClub" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TheBreakfastClub</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/MusicOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MusicOfMastodon</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/80sPop" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>80sPop</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/OhTheMemories" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OhTheMemories</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CdqoNKCCt7A" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">m.youtube.com/watch?v=CdqoNKCC</span><span class="invisible">t7A</span></a></p>
Zorro<p>I find myself developing a passion for these old Hollywood movies. There's an earnestness and a passion that fills my cup. Thinking and learning about how the films were made is an additional and worthwhile benefit - a lot has been written and said about them. </p><p>My ★★★½ review of Spartacus on Letterboxd <a href="https://boxd.it/9sduyn" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">boxd.it/9sduyn</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/Movies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Movies</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/MoviesOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MoviesOfMastodon</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Spartacus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Spartacus</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/classicmovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>classicmovies</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/classicfilm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>classicfilm</span></a></p>
Zorro<p>Never seen it and I'm settling in to watch Spartacus (1960).</p><p>Starring Kirk Douglas and directed by Stanley Kubrick it's been in my pile of shame for a long time. </p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/movies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>movies</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/spartacus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>spartacus</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/moviesofmastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>moviesofmastodon</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/classicmovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>classicmovies</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/classicfilms" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>classicfilms</span></a></p>
Zorro<p>Now that the Oscars have a stunt category, TimeOut asks the best stunt people "which stunts are the best of all time"?</p><p>Some great bios and analysis with embedded YT of the stunts. </p><p><a href="https://www.timeout.com/film/greatest-stunts-in-movie-history" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">timeout.com/film/greatest-stun</span><span class="invisible">ts-in-movie-history</span></a></p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/movies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>movies</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/moviesofmastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>moviesofmastodon</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/stunts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>stunts</span></a></p>
Brian Jopek<p>The 1997 James Cameron film “Titanic” was OK when it came to some of the historical perspective (and I actually kinda like the Celine Dion tune) but I definitely prefer this version from nearly 40 years before. The book by Walter Lord that it’s based on is also really good. <br><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/MoviesOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MoviesOfMastodon</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/TurnerClassicMovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TurnerClassicMovies</span></a><br><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/ANightToRemember" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ANightToRemember</span></a></p>
Brian Jopek<p>“You cannot make peace with dictators. Brian Jopek<p>I first saw this movie in 1980 shortly after its release and this scene is among those that really hit home when my oldest son was killed in Iraq in 2006. <br><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/MoviesOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MoviesOfMastodon</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/OrdinaryPeople" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OrdinaryPeople</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/TurnerClassicMovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TurnerClassicMovies</span></a></p><p>“Feelings are scary.
