Just recently tried out #Netgalley new e-reader options, including Thorium. To say they are a pain in the ass is to be charitable. I downloaded an ARC to review to try it. I will finish that one book, and that is the last new book I'll request from them. Not worth the hassle.

There are better places to find ARCs and new books for review. And if not, believe me, plenty of back titles that deserve some love and #reviews.

#QOTD: Have you ever had an embarrassing flight story? Because Noelle Adams' upcoming book In Flight just unlocked a core memory I tried to bury.

A few years ago, I reached a new level of humiliation. After a sleepless weekend trip with my college friends, I fully passed out mid-flight… draped over a stranger like a personal weighted blanket. 🫣 My friend said she kept yanking me off him, but like a cursed slinky, I just kept flopping right back. 😭💀 She eventually gave up and let me marinate in the shame I fully deserved. When I woke up, I was greeted with a flood of texts:

"WAKE THE HELL UP!"
"YOU’RE LITERALLY OVER HIM!"
"I’M SO EMBARRASSED FOR YOU!"
"I TRIED!"

To the kind stranger who let me use him as an in-flight pillow: I’m still cringing, and I honestly apologize. 🤧

Thankfully, that’s not what happened in this book.

For two months, River has been flying from Savannah to Boston every weekend to help with her sister’s wedding. Unfortunately, she’s stuck next to Isaac, the same grumpy guy who’s also on a weekly commute home. Neither of them is willing to switch seats, and the silent tension between them makes every flight unbearable. But as the weekends go by, she starts noticing the cracks in his cold exterior… and maybe this forced proximity isn’t as terrible as she thought.

Noelle Adams has always been my go-to for quick palate cleansers between heavier reads, and In Flight delivered exactly that. A light, fast-paced novella with just the right amount of tension and subtle angst. Perfect when you need something fun and easy!

✨ Read this if you love:

I reviewed another ARC for #NetGalley and yet again it was YA, a demographic I don't spend a lot of time reading these days since I have enough of my own problems that it's hard to get invested in teenager problems.

That being said, this book was super cool. It takes place where modern-day Peru is in the sixth century and follows a 15-year-old girl of a people I didn't know existed until yesterday. I love learning stuff like that!

This book was super interesting and somehow more relatable than I even thought it could be. A great read for the target audience and adults alike.

🚀✨ Review: Last Chance to Save the World (Chaotic Orbits #3) by Beth Revis ✨🚀
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Beth Revis became one of my fav authors the moment I read the first book in this serie (Full Speed to a Crash Landing 😍) and I’ve been lucky enough to ARC read each book since then.

This is a quick series, but there’s a lot to sink your teeth into with each book. The fast-paced storyline rushes you at top speed through space and back to a futuristic Earth—one that’s slowly being ruined by billionaires. (Why does that sound so familiar? 🤔)

Last Chance to Save the World picks up with Ada and Rian trying to stop a corporate-controlled disaster from ruining Earth. Their dynamic is still perfection—flirtation, rivalry, and just enough tension to keep things interesting. I especially loved getting to meet Ada’s mom and seeing Ada finally make progress on what she’s been working toward for three books. And of course, her outsmarting Rian never gets old.

I finished it thinking, Wait… is there a book four? The ending felt more like a cheeky cliffhanger than a wrap-up, and honestly, I’m hopeful that we’ll get more of Ada and Rian in the future.

This series has been an absolute blast, and I’d recommend it to any sci-fi reader who loves fast-paced adventure, a little romance, and characters who are always one step ahead—until they’re not.

For the full review, please check it out on my StoryGraph, Fable, or Goodreads.

Thanks to @bethrevis , @dawbooks and @netgalley for the ARC! 🚀✨

This was a fitting and cozy conclusion to a great trilogy. I didn’t love it as much as the first two, but I don’t begrudge it for that.

In this final installment, the fae world is finally front and center, rather than the somewhat menacing and hard-to-find subject of Emily’s research. We had higher stakes and more magic this time around.

I do think it was missing something on the pacing front. I found myself less engaged overall, especially in the second half.

But I love this trilogy, and will continue to recommend it.

Thanks to Del Rey and NetGalley for the ARC!

I Think They Love You was a sweet second chance/fake dating love story between Denz and Braylon. Denz comes from an event planning empire and his father, the CEO, is ready to step down and name his successor. In an attempt to make himself seem more responsible, Denz lies about being in a serious relationship. In an act of desperation, he convinces his Ex, Bray (who now goes by Braylon), to fake date him after running into each other for the first time since they broke up years ago.

This book was cute and sweet and all the things I love to see from a fake dating book!! I’m not usually a huge fan of second chance romance, but this one was done well. I loved the way we got to watch them fall back in love, both facing their fears to do so. The secondary characters were excellent, I laughed several times listening to this, and it left me feeling warm and fuzzy. One thing I gotta say though- what do you mean Bray went to England AS AN ADULT, stayed there for a couple years, and came home with a British accent? That’s insane. But truly, a minor gripe all things considered.

Thank you Netgalley for my copy of this audiobook!

I listened to this book in the middle of the night while I was driving to Orlando for the National Championship. My copilot was snoozing in the passenger seat (SLACKER) and this book kept me company.

This book was interesting and I really liked the premise. I love that they were able to fall in love without ever actually physically meeting or seeing each other. However, I do feel like that developed rather quickly. I was definitely fully invested in the story, it was easy to listen to. The narration was well done and really kept me locked in. I didn’t love the ending, but overall I did enjoy this one and recommend it!!

3.5⭐

I was given a free ALC of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thanks Netgalley!!

I have loved everything I’ve read by Emma Lord so when I saw The Rival by her available through Netgalley, I HAD to request it!! This one fell more on the YA side and followed lifelong rivals Sadie and Seb. Their parents were best friends and they grew up next door to each other. Being the same age, they spent their life competing with each other all through school. Now they’re going to the same college and find themselves competing with each other again for the last spot on the school’s newspaper staff.

Emma Lord does such a good job at making me remember what it was like to be 18 and for everything to be new and difficult and messy and often dramatic. I occasionally found myself annoyed at Sadie for making a big deal out of something that wasn’t really a big deal, but then I remembered who I was at 18 and thought “no wait that tracks”. I loved watching her and Seb see each other in new lights- choosing to work together instead of against each other. I loved watching them carve out space for themselves and discover who they were away from their families. I also always love Jesse Vilinksy’s narration. All in all I really enjoyed this one.
