Since the early days of film, there've been stunt designers and performers who make leaping through glass windows, flipping cars and escaping from burning buildings look realistic. Now, they have the chance to get an Oscar for it. Thanks to the campaigning of former stunt performer and "The Fall Guy" director David Leitch, the Academy Board of Governors approved a new category for stunt design, which will start in 2027. It only took 100 years, but the Academy Awards will finally create a category for Achievement in Stunt Design for the 100th ceremony for films released in 2027.
