Day 31

Favorite TTRPG of all time? The reason I love this hobby isn't dependent on one system. It's the people who want to help others have a good time. It's the knowledge passed from Game Master to Game Master over the decades. It's the community we build, share, and play together in that makes it my favorite hobby. In short, I don't have a favorite TYRPG

I hope everyone had as much fun as I did with this sharing adventure. Can't wait till next year.

Day 29 & 30

Most memorable encounter? So many to choose from, but my favorite right now how (as a player) my group managed to beat a random encounter that consisted of 12 Rust Monsters and 1 Beholder in the back line. We were all primarily spellcasters btw 😅.

Obscure TTRPG I've played? I've played "Summer Break!" & a few others from "The Ultimate Micro-RPG Book". It's a great collection for a friend's hang out night.

Day 27 & 28

Game I'd like a new Edition of? I can't think of anything that is needing one. I'm quite happy playing old and new games alike. A new Edition means similar rules but a new game. If I liked something enough it doesn't need to be remade, just put into print again.

Scariest game I've played? A friend ran us through the first of The Haunt trilogy (drivethrurpg.com/m/product/206). 7 hours on Halloween, we got into some dodgy situations. It was great 😁!

Day 26

Favorite Character Sheet? Honestly I don't know if I have one. All of them kind of just serve their purpose, at best. I've never been a fan of themed sheets. And no character sheet I've used really innovated the way information was tracked and/or presented.

Really looking to see if anyone's going to change my mind on this who post today.

25) Unplayed RPG you own...

Woof. So many... spanning from Troika! to Kids on Bikes to the FATE system as a whole. But, I'm going to give a shout out to two of them.

For a slapdash rollicking good time I desperately want to play Fiasco. It looks and sounds amazing.

For a more traditional dive into rpging I would love a mini campaign of Genlab Alpha. Not at all because I put together some parallel design or anything before I knew it existed...

Day 25

Unplayed TTRPG I own? Currently there is Cairn, Magicians, & 7th Sea 2nd Edition.

I really want to try out Cairn with my local friends, but my recent move, other games filling time, & end of the year work responsibilities, I don't have time.

Magicians is a TTRPG to learn Korean, so I don't have time OR friends for that.

7th Sea is something I have player willing to switch to from their current game, but no time fore to learn the rules to run 🙁

Day 24

Best complex/simple TTRPG I've played? Sounds like a two parter. Well complex is Star/Pathfinder. Enjoyed my time with my group but don't think I'll every choose to play it again personally. A bit too much character building and mechanical nuance for my taste.

For the Dungeon, Dread, and Everyone is John are the simplest ones and I don't know if I can choose. 😅

#RPGaDay23 (24) going back to (1). Complex/ simple game I play, is my Mask campaign. Which is fairly simple in mechanics.

I've never run such a complex game and it wans't even intentional. It just so happens there are at least 7 factions of NPCs with more or less defined capabilties.

Current plot is that PCs are at a summer camp for teens that have problems with their super powers.

Three of those factions are recruiting candidates as a test bed for future cooperation

Day 22

Coolest looking TTRPG book I have ever bought was the Adventurer's Guide to Theria by Jason Massey and Brianna Marie. They have crafted an amazing world and the book shows so many difference facets of it.

I'm a function over fashion guy, but I think this book does both wonderfully. DISCLAIMER: I got a special edition cover. The normal one looks really good as well though.

Day 22

Best second hand purchase? I suppose West End Games Star Wars Battle Book: x-Wing vs Tie Fighter. I haven't purchased any TTRPGs second hand really, and but addition to the old WEG Star Wars TTRPG makes me glow every time I thumb through it. It's old, maybe a bit outdated in its rules, but owning a piece of the history is a pleasure in its own right.

Day 17, 18, 20, 21

Favorite system? I adore DREAD and it's core mechanic. I do not get to play it nearly enough.

Favorite published adventure? The Haunt by Phil Beckwith dmsguild.com/m/product/206076

Will I be playing in 20 years? Hell yeah. It's the first hobby I have stuck with longer than a month. Can't imagine life without it.

Favorite licensed TTRPG? Probably Fantasy Flight's version of Star Wars. Sessions feel like a movie with the genesys system.

#rpgaday23 Day 21 - Favorite Licensed RPG

I don't own many licensed RPG. I'd play Discworld again surely. A PtbA version would be great though. GURPS is a little to gritty for such a story oriented setting. But at the time a valid pick.

From what I only played, I'm choosing the Dresden Files RPG. Fate works well as a system for this kind of story and I enjoyed the one shots very much.

#RPGaDay23 (18) Favorite System. #PbtA, although is that even a single thing anymore? I'm surly more particular when I say it, than the most comprehensive understanding by the Bakers.

For good PbtA in my book

- If you want dice, use 2d6. No reason not to.

- No situational stats. Zero stats, player driven calling etc. is fine. But if situation is key, make another move.

- No Fallback Move. No GM will tell you a drawback on 7-9.

Maybe I should make a special branch name.

Day 13, 14, & 15

Most memorable character demise? Jerec Waylan, a pompous douche of a first character. Made when I thought the story revolved around me. Glad he's dead 😔.

First convention purchase? A little crocheted Navi I still have hanging off my rear view mirror. Guiding me on my travels 😁.

Favorite Con Module/One-Shot. Thunderball Run by Dungeon in a box. Airship race best run in the style of Wacky Races. Highly recommend. wondrousoneshots.com/products/

#RPGaDay23 (15) Favorite convention 1shot.

We played with the then playtest rules of D&D5 on #tanelorn meetup.

PCs were flumphs whose egg had landed in a forest. (According to #pathfinder flumphs send eggs through space.)

Flumph also sounds like the German for smurf (Schlumpf), so there was lots of inspiration. The PCs were Sun Flumph, Magic Flumph etc.

It started with a curious two legged creature stumbling dying into the village.
