Kristoffer Lawson<p><a href="https://attractive.space/tags/Sasuga" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Sasuga</span></a> is putting together a full day seminar on <a href="https://attractive.space/tags/DaitoRyu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DaitoRyu</span></a> <a href="https://attractive.space/tags/Aikijujutsu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Aikijujutsu</span></a> (the parent art of <a href="https://attractive.space/tags/aikido" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>aikido</span></a> and <a href="https://attractive.space/tags/hapkido" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hapkido</span></a>, amongst others) in <a href="https://attractive.space/tags/Helsinki" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Helsinki</span></a>, 1st Feb. Their seminars have always been very insightful, and they retain some of the oldest teachings of the art. Thoroughly recommend going. </p><p><a href="https://facebook.com/events/s/daito-ryu-aikijujutsun-seminaa/1646254666101763/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">facebook.com/events/s/daito-ry</span><span class="invisible">u-aikijujutsun-seminaa/1646254666101763/</span></a></p>
Aikido Ryushinkan<p>Our sensei, Tom Granström (6th dan), will be one of the many instructors at next month's '<a href="https://aikido.social/tags/Aikido" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Aikido</a> Across Borders' event in Vantaa (near Helsinki), Finland. Many styles will be present, from soft to <a href="https://aikido.social/tags/Tenshin" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Tenshin</a> style (which <a href="https://aikido.social/tags/StevenSeagal" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#StevenSeagal</a> did). There will also be <a href="https://aikido.social/tags/DaitoRyu" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#DaitoRyu</a> <a href="https://aikido.social/tags/Aikijujutsu" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Aikijujutsu</a>, courtesy of the <a href="https://aikido.social/tags/Sasuga" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Sasuga</a> dojo and <a href="https://aikido.social/tags/BarawSugbo" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#BarawSugbo</a><span> from the Philippines. Kristoffer Lawson<p>Nice to have done some <a href="https://attractive.space/tags/DaitoRyu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DaitoRyu</span></a> <a href="https://attractive.space/tags/jujutsu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>jujutsu</span></a> for the first time in a couple months. Very traditional style at <a href="https://attractive.space/tags/Sasuga" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Sasuga</span></a>.</p>
Kristoffer Lawson<p>Had a great <a href="https://attractive.space/tags/DaitoRyu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DaitoRyu</span></a> <a href="https://attractive.space/tags/aikijujutsu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>aikijujutsu</span></a> practise today at <a href="https://attractive.space/tags/Sasuga" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Sasuga</span></a>. Been too long since I was last there (busy with many things). But today I got several things working nicely and randori was pretty satisfactory. Something clicked.</p>
Kristoffer Lawson<p><span class="h-card"><a href="https://hachyderm.io/@sleepyfox" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>sleepyfox</span></a></span> btw the newer Daito Ryu curriculum appears to have changed quite a bit under Tokimune. So people looking for the historical perspective to <a href="https://attractive.space/tags/aikido" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>aikido</span></a> by training most lines of <a href="https://attractive.space/tags/DaitoRyu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DaitoRyu</span></a> are probably not getting what they think they want. Very few people teach primarily the old type of curriculum, as outlined also in the Soden books. Possibly only one dojo (<a href="https://attractive.space/tags/Sasuga" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Sasuga</span></a> in Helsinki). Their stuff is very clearly related to aikido, albeit with a lot that has disappeared from aikido.</p>
