I read Bloodchild and Other Stories by Octavia E. Butler ages ago, of course I loved that book. I don't remember much from it. I might need a re-read.

This an interesting list. I can't speak for the rest of the books or if "parasites" is even the right descriptor. Bookriot is kinda hit or miss.

BOOK RIOT · 5 Great Parasite Sci-Fi Tales That Will Get Under Your SkinThese parasite sci-fi stories about alien invaders will get under your skin.

“It’s Not Unusual To Be Loved by an Alien” is a really funny ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ #SciFi #Tentacle romp by Chloe Archer.

River is a huge science fiction nerd. He also believes that aliens live amongst humans on Earth, and he’s now convinced his new neighbor is one of them. When the neighbor drives off in the middle of the night, River and his uncle follow him out to the Nevada desert. What they find there will change River forever.

This book is a hilarious romp about extraterrestrials living and working alongside humans on Earth. The story is clearly inspired in large part by the movie “Men in Black,” which is definitely acknowledged. You will definitely need to be up to speed on all the popular science fiction movies and television shows to get all the references River makes.

#WordWeavers Apr 16: If your MC wasn't involved with the story, what would they do with their life?

If time forks... he'd have been looking for a tenure-track postdoc position somewhere, when he hears about a nuclear meltdown at the Time Eye project. (No one would know about the virus sent back in time that forked off an alternate history.)

But if history got *overwritten* and Jim wasn't in the only place in the universe to survive? Then he would no longer have existed.

🤷

The Archangel #SciFi #MMRomance series by C.J. Dragon follows the adventures of Raphael, a child of the Mars colony, the main outpost for humanity since Earth is no longer habitable. He is also a powerful empath, so while he loves his extended family, he sometimes needs time alone to keep their thoughts from overwhelming him. That's easily accomplished by taking his small scout ship Agatha out to look for minerals in the asteroid belt. It's on one of these trips that he encounters a Chi'NoSa ship that accidentally damages Agatha. Lord Commander Teo of the ship orders Agatha and Raphael to be brought aboard. Teo has never met a human, is fascinated by Raphael, and wants to keep him around. Thus begins a series of adventures as the two men become lovers and attempt to bridge a vast cultural gulf between their two races.

644. Does your MC’s current actions reflect their past experiences?

Yes and No.

Kira despite all that happened to her has become an outgoing, open minded and people interested person that deeply cares for her society she lives in, she has a more somber toned down side she rarely let people into that close. As a soldier she seems to be able to prevent others from her expirience.

Arkham pretty much. She still tries to distance from people until she knows them enough but she doesn't go out of her way to know them. Why she started to feel something for Kira is beyond her understanding atm but she decided to not wasting it by questioning it to much.

Ash hasn't made to many experiences yet and her basis is a different one as for humanoid of biological creatures.

Wordle banned 1984 (part 6) #Wordletrek

Finished the book Spock. Sad to think the freedom of Wordling probably wouldn't exist in Orwell's fun forbidding future.

The word police would be stopping; jokes, truth, laugh and happy answers.

Dangerous words imprisoned in some joyless grey cell Sir.

Maybe different Trek writers to cut out the fun Sir

How does your SC respond to the quiet? Do they take comfort in silence, or seek to fill the void with noise?

In space no one hears silence.
Wait what?
It's true at least if you are onboard of a working space craft.
The ships are quite but they have mechanical components, the hull vibrates while traveling and even with dampening solutions a ship is humming in a certain way.
And if you are in an area that has enough particles to transmit sounds to your Space suit it gets quite loud inside. Stars and geological active worlds even atmospheres produce a quite noise. And if sound ever is absent from the outside you would t believe how loud your own pulse can get.

And as always with SC questions it depends on the crew member.

Mondira likes short periods of 'silence' in which she can relax.

Dr. Kaiden prefers quite music in the background until his favorite song plays than he blasts out the lyrics.
