Stretching from Langbank to Port Glasgow, these enclosures, formed by driving wooden stakes into the mud on the foreshore, date from the early to mid-18th Century and were used to store the timber needed to construct wooden vessels in the early days of commercial shipbuilding on the Clyde. </p><p>Cont./</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/portglasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>portglasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/shipbuilding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>shipbuilding</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/theclyde" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>theclyde</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/timberponds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>timberponds</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowhistory" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowhistory</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/scottishhistory" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>scottishhistory</span></a></p>

This Is My Glasgow<p>There's clearly a linear feature made of rocks crossing the sand that (to me) looks similar to the more eroded section of the southern end and which seems to line up with it, but there were no definitive signs that this is it.
