Believe in Scotland's 2025 Big Indy Movement Survey confirms that support for a Scottish Republic is strong among independence supporters but how should an independent Scotland's Head of State be selected?

In July 2025, Believe in Scotland ran its annual Big Indy Movement Survey and a record 7,226 Independence supporters responded. We will be writing up the results in a series of articles on our site.

More bollox from the Gruaniad/Kettle who can not bear to recognise achievements that a hobbled Holyrood (not a Labour administration) have made.

My regret is that we have not pushed Independence harder. Clearly the establishment are desperate to prevent it happening. The disasters for Scotland of Brexit and now a Labour maladministration will take use over the line and god help us if Farage gets power. England you are on your own.

It is completely ridiculous that most of the parties which fight elections in Scotland are all English. It will come as no surprise that all of these English parties oppose Scottish independence. I wish that the Scottish people, on a point of principle, refused to vote for these parties.

@Fife4Europe Oh dear Herald, you really are going to have to promote independence if you wish this.

England will do bugger all while we are chained to it. Although the ‘shock’ of losing another territory might remind them.

“We’ve made a good start, it will take a couple of years and success is not guaranteed,” Murray said. “But it’s a lot easier, it’s a lot more realistic than getting Keir Starmer to agree to a referendum.”

With First Minister John Swinney about to embark on a tour of Scotland (including my own area of Dumfries and Galloway) to roll out yet another relaunch of an independence strategy, it feels like an important moment to reflect on Scotland’s constitutional journey.

I am always amused when the fact that politician have been able to find their way to Scotland is given headlines. Is it an implicit pat on the back for their navigation skills before they need a passport or a recognition of modern day missionaries spreading fear and loathing to the heathen countries that they are forced to talk to against their better judgement. And aren’t they always taxing Scottish wealth and resources?
