Sad but true.

They still don't seem to get how the absence of coherent leadership and a personality to carry the message is doing them in. Boutique issues and bespoke leaders; no hammer, no nails.

Recently someone I follow boosted a link to an article about why The Atlantic is a godawful magazine. I've read the article now and I highly recommend it.

A far-from-exhaustive list of points it makes:

- There is an astonishing lack of editorial oversight apparent in The Atlantic.

- The Atlantic routinely publishes pieces that are unsourced, misleading, and actively deceptive, and ignores experts' attempts to correct the "facts" it publishes.

- Through shoddy journalism, The Atlantic makes right-wing views palatable to a liberal audience.

In Robinson's words, his "basic criticism is that while it presents itself as a magazine of ideas—which makes readers feel as if they are engaging intelligently with important issues—it in fact covers those issues in such a superficial and slipshod way that people are liable to be left with a worse understanding of the issue than when they went in."

Although Caldwell is not as well known as other snr #Pentagon ofcls, he has played a critical role as an adviser to #Hegseth.

I love #TheAtlantic, even when it publishes well-written things I disagree with by authors I don't like, but every now and then it somehow lets some absurd moron write and publish something utterly dogshit, and this might be the second worst example of it I've seen: theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/

What the fuck is this? Absurd misrepresentation of inclusive language and some ludicrous misapprehension leading to the idea of the 'woke right'.

Last month, Nicholas Gilbert received delivery of #grain for the 1,400 cows he tends at his #dairy farm in #Potsdam, #NewYork, 20 miles from the #Ontario border. The feed came w/ a surprise #tariff of $2,200 tacked on. “We have small margins...I had a contracted price on that grain delivered to my barn. It was supposed to be so much per ton. & they added that tariff right on top because it comes from a #Canadian feed mill"
