Happy (Gregorian calendar) New Year. Alright, calendar end of the 5th year of my 5th decade and I'm pretty appreciative that this weekend I can restart both the #lotr , re-watch #MyNeighbourTotoro (#studioghibli ), hangout in DiceCamp for #ttrpgs & consider some #solottrpgs with #TheYellowKing . Started the a.m. with the new Mythology book 4 #glorantha and a Forged in the Dark / #fitd intro for Girl by Moonlight and a successful #rogule escape. Hoping to knock out more the next couple of days.

A great deal of fun & horror was had in session one of the playtest of Cassilda's Song.
Not much can be divulged but as flavour...
...a destitute portrait painter, armed with wine & cigs
...a lovesick poet taking an impromptu dip in the Seine
...a sculptor's bloodied jacket given up to a gendarme
...art students arm themselves with a scythe, secateurs, a pruner & a hay fork
...a dead end in an alleyway, but something has followed them
2022 year marked my proper emergence from the RPG deep freezer. Since then, I’m delighted to have found excellent new friends, spent waaaay too much on books and played wonderful games of #TheYellowKing, #StarTrekAdventures, #Liminal, #NeverGoingHome, #OutOfTheAshes, #Vaesen and #CallofCthulhu. Looking forward to 2023!
@wandererbill Gumshoe is VERY genre driven, and not very complex once you wrap your brain around the two mechanical conceits, so the trick, I think, is to focus on which genre you most like.
Kevin Kulp's designs (#Timewatch, #SwordsOfTheSerpentine) tend to be much more freewheeling and heroic, with lots of moving resources between point pools.
Robin Laws' designs are more grounded, and are moving away from as many point pools in #TheYellowKing and #MutantCityBlues.
