The posts going around with various "go bag" ideas have the right idea but I'd throw in this - when buying batteries to go with your torch (flashlight) get ones with a long shelf life. Lithium chemistry AAs can have a 20 year shelf life, and CR123s (different chemistry according to the internet) can go 10.

(on flashlights I'd recommend having at least a pair, one that takes a generally easy to come by cell size like AA, and a good high capacity rechargeable. I am very normal about flashlights)

"Crazy for You" is a song recorded by American singer #Madonna for the film #VisionQuest (1985), written by #JohnBettis and #JonLind, and produced by #JohnJellybeanBenitez. Released on March 2, 1985 through #GeffenRecords, it is a #pop #ballad with #torch influences, and lyrics that talk about sexual attraction and desire. #JonPeters and #PeterGuber produced Vision Quest, while #JoelSill, #WarnerBrosPictures mu#sic vice president.

New flashlight! Picked up a Convoy S21E with a 519A emitter, 5000K. (Translation: the 519A is the light source, has been out for a few years, and is well regarded for a good balance of colour accuracy and brightness. The colour temperature of 5000K means it leans slightly warm in use, and the S21E takes a fairly commonly available rechargeable lithium battery, and is fitted with a USB-C port to support recharging.)

In use has a very acceptable moon mode, and a smooth wide beam. Doesn't have the out and out throw of some others, but is bright enough to reach out and illuminate a pretty decent distance ahead. I like it.

My first microfiction.

The young weasel didn't exactly know what happened that night everything changed, but he knew that when the storm finally drove the wolves away, he was alone.

Violence. Chaos. Nature.

Those are the words that describe the few minutes before he thought for the first time. The family of weasels was resting quietly in their den in the forest outside the city when they attacked, their teeth bare and their voices snarling. One by one they picked off one weasel after another and the young weasel saw his brothers, sisters, parents, cousins disappear forever into the gaping maw of predators much larger than them. He would be gone too if it wasn't for the lighting.

A trio of wolves had the young weasel cornered in the hollows of a dead tree as rain beat down on them. He felt the heat of the wolves' breath on his small, wet body and was beginning to shiver from the cold rain when suddenly it was if the sky burst open with a deafening crack.

Lightning had struck the log which quickly ignited into flames, frightening the wolves who ran for their lives. The weasel was able to escape from the hollow tree just seconds before his only exit was blocked by flames. For the first time in his life, the weasel had a thought.

"I'm alive."
