DapperDinobot<p>And, in other news, I&#39;m reading The Art of Prophecy, by <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/WesleyChu" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>WesleyChu</span></a>. It&#39;s quite good!</p><p>And it has me thinking about modern, English language <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/wuxia" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>wuxia</span></a> novels. If I were real pretentious I dare say I&#39;d even label them &quot;Neo Wuxia?&quot; </p><p>See also: the Jade City novels by <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/FondaLee" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>FondaLee</span></a>, or the Dandelion Dynasty series by <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/KenLiu" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>KenLiu</span></a>. And several more great novels by great authors I&#39;ve neglected to mention.</p>
hybrid havoc<p>This morning I finished <a href="https://darkfriend.social/tags/reading" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>reading</span></a> The Lives of Tao by <a href="https://darkfriend.social/tags/WesleyChu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WesleyChu</span></a> . Wesley Chu will be the author guest of honor at <a href="https://darkfriend.social/tags/JordanCon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>JordanCon</span></a> this year. </p><p>It's mostly fun, but I found myself getting frustrated with the characters too often. Towards the end of the book things were feeling so contrived and absurd that it was difficult to finish. </p><p>There was also one particular bit of dialog that sort of broke the entire concept of the book and shouldn't have made it through the editing process.</p><p><a href="https://darkfriend.social/tags/SciFi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SciFi</span></a> <a href="https://darkfriend.social/tags/books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>books</span></a></p>
hybrid havoc<p>Just picked up <a href="https://darkfriend.social/tags/TheLivesOfTao" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TheLivesOfTao</span></a> by <a href="https://darkfriend.social/tags/WesleyChu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WesleyChu</span></a>. Wesley Chu will be the author guest of honor at <a href="https://darkfriend.social/tags/JordanCon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>JordanCon</span></a> this year, so I thought it would make sense to check out some of his work. The book description also sounds like something I would be interested in regardless.</p><p><a href="https://libro.fm/audiobooks/9781469271972-the-lives-of-tao" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">libro.fm/audiobooks/9781469271</span><span class="invisible">972-the-lives-of-tao</span></a></p>
