#Turbostat Utility Bumps 1024 #CPU Core Limit To 8192 Cores After #HPE Breaches It With a 1152 Core unnamed system.
We currently aren't aware of any server CPU configurations that can exceed this limit (in terms of physical cores), so this may be a custom or next-generation solution from #Intel or #AMD. The utility currently only supports #x86 processors, which seemingly rules out an Arm system from causing the issue.

#TIL (and wish I hadn't) that in #x86-land there are at least 11 different documented #NOP instructions, all different lengths, so you can use them as padding to align loops, that NOP in 64 bit mode behaves differently to NOP in 32 bit mode, and that there's an instruction for a floating point NOP. #Linux has a subroutine #optimize_nops. Can we please go back to abacuses and cuneiform.

Talking with the folks in the local #vintage / #retrocomputing community, they clued me in that the #ThinkPad #RAID is a steaming pile of 💩 and not worth the trouble.

🤷 Oh well. Thanks for cluing me in

So I swapped out the two testing #NVMe drives I was using and reinstalled the original sticks - to have #windoz10 demanding for the #bitlocker recovery key. 🤦‍♂️

Well, time to wipe & install #windoz11 then.

Install went fine, only 4 rando #drivers to find for all #devices to be recognized and working.

Using my #CTT scripts to install the majority of applications, then to remove the #spyware #bloatware and other garbage #micro$oft added to #windows11

Then migrate my #data from my other ThinkPad. Welcome to my #sunday #funday

Ok, I spent yesterday afternoon trying to get #RAID configured on my #lenovo #ThinkPad #P70 - to no success.

I found this video youtube.com/watch?v=AyCC1NGe8a of the similar #p50 and configuring #RAID which shows the #BIOS interface but my P70's only show the "non-raid physical discs" I do not have an option for RAID volumes. Note I have upgraded the BIOS to the most recent version on lenovo's web site. Any thoughts?

I have attached 2 #screenshots of what the BIOS displays - I'm trying to configure the RAID on the two 512GB #NVMe sticks.

The 1988 book "Structured Programming in Assembly Language for the IBM PC" by William Runnion is impressive for its breadth and depth. For example, it also covers recursion and text graphics. It's even more impressive considering how much work went into producing the book.

At 728 pages, this resource was a treasure back then and it still is to this day.
