Lanie Carmelo<p>My <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/WordPress" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WordPress</span></a> website is finally back to normal—and maybe even a little improved! 😅 I spent all night undoing the damage caused by someone who offered to "help" but left my site in chaos. 🚩 Lesson learned: be cautious about who you trust with your work.</p><p>The one challenge I still haven’t solved is making my <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/portfolio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>portfolio</span></a> filterable by project type. With 13+ projects and growing, this feature is becoming essential! Ironically, this was my original request for help before things went sideways. 😬 The person not only messed up my site but also claimed it wasn’t responsive (I can’t verify that myself as I’m <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/Blind" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Blind</span></a>, but no one else has reported issues) and tried to take over. Now I’m back to square one—but wiser!</p><p>I’m using Jetpack's built-in portfolio feature, which unfortunately doesn’t support filtering natively, along with the GeneratePress Premium theme. If anyone has tips or workarounds for creating a filterable portfolio with these tools, I’d love your advice! 🙏 <br><a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/WebDevelopment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WebDevelopment</span></a> <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/AccessibleDesign" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AccessibleDesign</span></a> <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/PortfolioDesign" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PortfolioDesign</span></a> <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/WebsiteTroubleshooting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WebsiteTroubleshooting</span></a> <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/Freelancing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Freelancing</span></a> <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/TechLessons" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TechLessons</span></a> <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/BlindProgrammer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BlindProgrammer</span></a> <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/IndieWeb" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>IndieWeb</span></a> <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/WordPressPlugins" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WordPressPlugins</span></a> <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/GeneratePress" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GeneratePress</span></a> <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/Tech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Tech</span></a> <a href="https://caneandable.social/tags/Technology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Technology</span></a></p>

CoffeeGeek<p>We continue redesigning and improving the CoffeeGeek website for 2024. At the top of our list:</p><p>- Setting up to have our community features back (we had to design around WP's "multi-site" to get there)</p><p>- Nothing less than a 95% accessibility rate will be acceptable to me. The current live site is in the 60s and 70s on some pages.</p><p>- Entirely responsive design, top to bottom. That means the site works, is fully functional, and looks beautiful whether on a mobile phone, a table, a normal desktop computer, or even a super widescreen. </p><p>- Making the site faster, top to bottom. We score in the 50-60s with the live site. I want 90+ scores for site speed on the new build.</p><p>The most complex "responsive" page on the entire website will be the dynamically-fed front page. We've spent all week making it feature rich, unique, but also fast. Here's how the lead in elements load and respond to browser size changes. I'm pretty happy with it.</p><p>Also, if you're into web design, and want to see the site as its being built, direct message me, and I'd be happy to give you the testbuild URL, in return for any helpful feedback you might have! :) </p><p><a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/webdesign" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>webdesign</span></a> <a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/responsivedesign" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>responsivedesign</span></a> <a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/accessibledesign" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>accessibledesign</span></a></p>
