Ugh, I just reposted a post about it but I wanted to make a post about it too. RIP to any fic posted around/before mid February (ID#s 1-63,200,000), it's been scraped and added to a dataset. I guess OTW is taking legal action, and authors are also filing DMCA claims too. The scraper has moved the dataset to different sites, so there's that.

Link to reddit post detailing it: discuss.whatever.social/r/AO3/

This site is keeping track too: paperdemon.com/app/g/pdarpg/ev

discuss.whatever.socialAO3 has been scraped. Again. For GenAI purposes. - r/AO3View on Redlib, an alternative private front-end to Reddit.

Heads up that every unlocked fic available on AO3 prior to March 2025 has been scraped and put into an AI dataset. The OTW filed a DMCA takedown on the original dataset so it's been disabled and can't be downloaded any more, but the dataset has already been uploaded to other sites.

Having migraines and chronic illness flare-ups has been brutal. However, I still managed to update the Shared Moments: Book 4: archiveofourown.org/works/5983 #Korrasami #FanFiction

It took me months due to how sick I've been. Writing is my main mode of coping, and when I can't use it to cope, I struggle with despair. So to finally finish that chapter and push it out to #AO3 ? What a relief.

I just need to find a new balance with my health, my writing, my coping, my activism, and my resting. Ugh, it feels overwhelming when I write it out like that. #ChronicallyIll #NEISvoid

So, my 15 year old kindle is getting increasingly glitchy the longer I refuse to connect it to the Internet, and I'm looking for a new ebook reader before it dies completely. Recommendations requested!

Needs:
- epaper with backlight for night reading (this is the only way I can read with a headache)
- load on epub files via usb
- can handle ao3 fanfics (the images in these are part of what's glitching out my old kindle)
- preferably fits in my skirt pocket (so, 7inch or so)
- does not *require* internet connection ever. Not even to set the clock. (Again, kindle glitch has made it so I can't tell what books are newly added because the time is glitchy and apparently the Internet is the only known fix.)
- works with Calibre for transferring books
- it would be nice if it worked with Libby for my library too, but I kind of expect libby to enshittify so I'm not going to worry too much about it.

I suspect the logical replacement is a kobo, but I'm worried corporate enshittification will leave me in the same state I'm in now. I'd definitely prefer a free software option so I won't have to worry as much about some corporate changes making my books annoying, but I'm not a purist so this is more about having a device that works before this one dies on me.
