There is no grammatical #tense in either #Cantonese or #Mandarin, but there are a whopping 39 verb suffixes in Cantonese, including 15 #aspect markers! In contrast, Mandarin has 3 aspect-marking verb suffixes. (For reference: there are 4 aspects in English, of which 3 are marked.)

An emblem gold on green. Elephants, they say, never forget; meditation improves memory by reducing stress. Mahouts still ever-questing trunks by giving them something to hold, in this case the lotus―we still the mind by holding a mantra. Yin-Yang reminds us of change and balance in life. Lotus symbolic of enlightenment blooms from the turbid swamp, reminding us that enlightenment is a continuous life-long journey to improve understanding of our manifestation in the world.

I've heard the suggestion that Facebook is great if you're interested in people, and Twitter is great if you're interested in ideas. That was certainly the reason that I favoured Twitter!

#My #worry #about #Mastodon #is #quite #foundational—#its #apparent #inability #to #search #for #terms #that #aren't #hashtagged. #This #makes #it #much #less #effective #as #a #way #to #see #who's #talking #about #a #particular #aspect #of #a #topic.
