Just launched my account on tenforward.social, so it's time for an #introduction!

I'm a writer and artist and I like to combine those in the form of comics. I had a modestly successful webcomic back in the day and bringing it back is my full-time job at the moment. You can see my art stuff at @nickthewright@mastodon.art!

I also sometimes make videos, video games, podcasts and I occasionally even do improv. You can see all my various stuff at nickthewright.com

My core fandom is #StarTrek and I volunteer for #TrekTrack at #DragonCon. I've been into #anime almost as long as I've been into Trek, and I grew up with Ranma 1/2, Kimagure Orange Road, and Dirty Pair (currently I'm really enjoying Frieren). I also like Star Wars and other generally geeky stuff.

I'm an #Xennial. I support #trans and #queer rights, I'm #leftist af, #antifascist and #anticapitalist. I'm #vegan, #bicyclist, #urbanist and #atheist.

If none of that scares you, hi!

🤔What if a #Waymo vehicle strikes a #pedestrian, #bicyclist?
“question becomes whether a case will turn on product #liability, the vehicle, the #software that trained the #AI or all of the above”
"operator of the vehicle, like #Waymo or #GM, should be liable, but not clear if it will play out that way”
"events leading up to any type of collision will be recorded … #Lawenforcement could procure that footage” #surveillance #police

Los Angeles Times · The future of driverless taxi service comes to Los Angeles By Nathan Solis

I've just released my latest video on YouTube.

Like anything else on my channel, it's just a glossy, semi-professional journal style video of whatever I wanted to cover at the time.

This video is me taking a deeply personal look at how depression prevented me from riding my bikes and how exhilarating it was to finally beat that to ride my road bike again!

Of course, the irony here is that the #jogger, the #pedestrian and #bicyclist all offer clues to a piece of the solution. Improved #infrastructure to support #GreenTransport. In the post 1 if you look down the sidewalk you can see a utility pole right in the middle of it. In post #2 in the #sidewalk foreground, you can see it simply ends in a dirt trail. In post #3, at least there is a #crosswalk, but there are no protected #bikelanes.

Not especially surprising that #OPD would not take seriously a series of 14 deliberate attacks on #cyclists within a matter of hours, but nevertheless important to point out this response is not OK: “… #Bicyclist Ellie Mead suffered a serious head injury and was allegedly not allowed by #police to have a case opened for her and instead to ‘call back later,’ according to #EastBayBikeParty.”

Finally got to ride with my Dad for the first time since we became roadies (road bike riders) independent of each other, myself in Canada, he back in rural England.

We rode on the winding, tight rural West Suffolk (UK) roads I grew up on and came of age on both hiking and riding in cars as a passenger.

We rode to the famous Maglia Rosso café.
