And then there's Charlie. He has this habit of wandering in whenever he pleases, placing his front paws on my left leg, and staring at me intently. He’s an incredibly needy dog. Sometimes, I wonder if he’s afraid we might send him off to live among the strays we often pass during our walks through the neighborhood or along the road. I think he just wants to check and make sure I’m still here. Here he is again—this time, he’s decided to curl up on the left side of my chair and keep me company. Ben? Ben is older and more independent, though he has his clingy moments too. He doesn’t like being alone and will often bark insistently until I join him in the family room to keep him company.

ℹ️ The Great Tit (Parus major) belongs to the family of tits and is the most common tit in Europe. It grows up to 15 cm tall, has a wingspan of up to 82 cm and has a very varied diet (e.g. insects, larvae, nuts). Male great tits have a continuous black stripe on their belly and neck. These are broken in females.

I love Common Mergansers and Red-necked Merganser's, but the male Hooded Merganser is my first fancy duck. I first saw him at this time of year pulling out all his best tricks to find himself a mate. He's just a little duck, but he struts around the pond like he's a bald eagle in a field full of slow-moving sparrows.
