Attempts at not making a mess sweeping the chimney. Worked, but turns out the chimney was pretty clean and instead I'd missed one section of the masonry heater flue maze last time.

Not quite figured out how to clean that one without a mess yet. Even took the round plugs out. Turns out one is bricked up from the inside and the other pointless as you can sweep it from elsewhere.

Got to practice my pottery skills putting those back in.

A masonry heater, painted a dubious peach colour. The chimney in the corner has two bin bags taped to the wall below the access door, terminating in a cardboard tray on the floor with chimney sweeping tools, extensions and gloves.
Masonry heater flue maze access door (one of many), opened and a metal brush on a flexible metal stick inserted. Black soot is coming out. It's partially being caught by a dust pan, some by the cardboard tray, but some missed. A peach painted round plug is in the tray as well as a screwdriver and some now dirty sweeping stick extensions.
Round plug removed from a ceramic tile. Inside is more clay and a the rear of a refractory brick, making this plug seem somewhat pointless.
Same round plug, reinstalled with some clay, still dark brown and moist. There's some superficial cracking from minor foundation movement, but no leakage.

Almost the right chimney hatch. It's the exact type we need, but way smaller.

I did some detective work in the shop and found out the Estonian company making these, alas, they only have that one size, no larger.

The search continues.

Although. These are basically crap. Look at it, thin sheet metal and already rusting in the shop. Maybe worth fitting a better one.
