One of the interesting things about living somewhere with absolutely inept snow-handling city services is that every storm that has accumulation is like an experiment in traffic re-alignment. #StLouis has so many double lane roads (in both directions) that are effectively reduced to single lanes in each direction when it snows and people stick to the one clear path. And you know what? It doesn't make any difference in how fast I get across town. Would be so easy to replace one or two of those lanes with bike lanes and tree-lined walking paths.

I found out today that the city plans on taking away street parking, and about 8’ of my front yard and driveway to turn the street into a boulevard with separate sidewalks and bike lanes. As a cyclist, I’m all for safe bike lanes, but why can’t they put in a shared use path instead? Then they wouldn’t be destroying our yards and getting rid of parking needed for homes and independent small businesses along this street. Not to mention that they are no longer closing down the off-ramps so traffic will be as heavy as ever, resulting in gridlock right outside my bedroom window. And how will the fire trucks navigate the narrower lanes? My pollinator garden would be paved over and my house would be right up against the street. Ugh. @waterlooregion #CityLiving #BikeLanes #SharedPath #SharedUsePath

This is the cumulative efforts of yesterday’s attempt to collect as many MRT station stamps as possible. I got 106 unique stamps out of a total of 122. I was unable to collect the final 3 on the yellow line, and 13 on the orange line. I also skipped the light rail stations.

For anyone who is so inclined, I think it is possible to collect all in one day provided that you make sure you’re at the starting terminal station of wherever you’re beginning at opening time and take provisions with you.

How good or how bad is #satellite service when you live in an apartment building?

For the next few years nothing will be built outside my side of the building. Pretty much a clear view of the sky. I've seen balconies with satellite dishes (not our building). I wonder if I could do the same. Is it worth getting #Starlink hardware? No 2-year contract (unlike fiber, cable) is what I like about it. But the hardware is really pricey.

Just wondering.
Nothing serious. 🤪
