Näin juuri suosituksen, Facebookin korvaajaksi #diaspora. Luulen, että mulla saattaa siellä tilikin vanhastaan olla, mutta sisään en ole logannut 10+ (?) vuoteen. Onko jotain kommentteja suomi-diasporasta, onko käyttäjiä, ja mitenkähän sen vanhan tunnarin löytää.

It's the end of an era! Back in 2011, my friend Joe told me about #diaspora, an alternative to #facebook with no ads and good privacy. I joined Diasp.org, and was on it... until today, as that pod (instance) has just closed.

I am grateful to David the 'podmin' for running the pod for so long. He didn't want it to be a service, but rather a springboard for people to have control over their own data and #SocialMedia interactions. (Insert lecture about the European #socialism that built the #fediverse )

Several friends joined Diapora back in the day, I think @redfern was among them. But it never took off among my peers, not enough to displace facebook. And of course, #Mastodon later appeared, and is now far larger than D*.

Still, I have a soft spot for Diaspora. I found another pod and will stay there (too) for now. But it won't be the same, you never forget your first non-commerical social media account! I spent time looking through all my old posts and downloading photo, ah, #nostalgia! 😢

Um genau zu sein @reticuleena verfehlt dein Post, upps .. dein tröt, sry .., das Thema denn du schreibst #fediVerse und sprichst von #mastodon. Das ist so sinnbefreit und selbstzerstörerisch wie mastodon zu schreiben und mastodon.social zu meinen. Als @courage'erin dürftest du verstehen was ich meine. Ganz zu schweigen von der Tatsache das du bereits (zumindest mal) ein friendica Konto hattest, also in vollem Besitzt einer reshare Funktion warst.

Ob mastodon eine reshare Funktion gut zu Gesicht stünde?
Warum nicht, auf #diaspora funktioniert sie super gut (edit: auch wenn mir gerade auffällt das es die dort gar nicht gibt und das Ambiente dennoch oder deswegen (?) dort super gut ist (oder war)), mich täte es nicht stören und die Diskussion über #interNetteEtikette und Verhalten hier bei uns ist:

  • a)
    Eh verloren den "die" schlagen mit ihrer erworbenen Twittermentalität alle hier in Scharen auf, sind mehr und bevor wir die wieder gerade gebogen haben, haben die uns bereist X-mal um die Ecke gebracht.
  • b)
    Geht unsere dezentrale Idee, unser Ansatz, davon aus das er uns die Möglichkeit gibt die verschiedenen Internetkulturen so weit zu entzerren und zu trennen das wir alle möglichst friedfertig neben einander co-existieren können.
    Sprich: "Leben und leben lassen" sollte wieder möglich sein.


Ansonsten nicht nur an dich eine persönliche Empfehlung die bei einem friendicaPromotionsgespraech mit @mina just vor ein paar Tagen auftauchte:
Jede Plattform hat ihre Stärken und Schwächen. Mastodon ist ideal zum chit-chat. Und wenn du einen friendicaKonto hast das deinem mastodonKonto folgt bekommt das jeden Tröt den du kommentierst, fav'st oder boostes in die Timeline gespühlt. Sprich, mastodon vom Handy zum fast and furious und friendica vom Desktop zum dezidierten Liebeschenken und und vernünftigen Texte aufsetzen.

Last but not least:
Eine reshare Funktion für mastodon ist mir ehrlich gesagt schnuppe. Ich bin hier mittlerweile seit ~vierzehn Jahren ganz pragmatisch auf dem Trip nicht nur einfach das zu nutzen was die jeweilige Software mir bietet, sondern immer wieder work arounds zu finden für das was es nicht oder noch nicht gibt. Das ist so schön unbequem das meine "to think out of the box" Kapazität exponentiell ins unermessliche gestiegen ist. #Kruse nennt das Kreativität, ein Mehrwert der kaum zu ermessen ist.

Drükos sind und waren Drückerkolonnen und ich war bereits hoch erfreut das "wir demnächst Drückerkolonnen fürs #fediVerse bekommen", denn genau das brauchen wir. Auch wenn wahrscheinlich nur @padeluun eine solche Idee und ihre Konsequenzen vollumfänglich verstehen würde ..

Everyone who has spoken to me lately has, in a way, already read this book—I can’t stop talking about it. I’ve been retelling these stories, giggling at the absurdity, finding the similarities in my life, and then diving into deep conversations about diaspora, migration, and identity. No light chats with me, hehehe.

To me, that’s the mark of a brilliant book.

In Dearborn, author Ghassan Zeineddine presents ten tragicomic stories that capture the layered experiences of Lebanese Americans in Dearborn, Michigan. For those of you who know Lebanese people, you know that we love very little more than our most beloved Lebanon.

Some of my favorite stories: a father teaches his son to hide cash inside frozen chickens to evade the IRS; a group of couples at the gym pool are inexplicably hypnotized by a newcomer wearing a tiiiiiiiiny Speedo covered in landmarks of Lebanon; and in "Yusra," a male butcher spends Fridays living as their true self, as female Yusra, and finds a friend who sees them fully. Yusra gave me all the feelings.

These stories are so funny, so tender, and so beautifully written—a collection I’ll be thinking about (and talking about) for a long time.

@WeirdWriter I have tried them all. #Friendica seems nice, but every so often an update complete bricks it. #gotosocial doesn't seem to have a front end, which makes it a little more difficult to use. I never could get #Bookwyrm to install. And currently I am trying out #diaspora. One thing I think all of them lack is interconnectability. I like #Mastodon because you can connect and use relays to help connect to other instances. If there is a way to do it with any of the above, I have never figured it out. If you have any tips or suggestions, I am all ears!
