Die vormals bessere schlesische Steinkohle wurde nach dem Krieg jenseits der Oder abgebaut und verstromt. Nun wurde hier die früher als unrentabel deklarierte Braunkohle gebraucht. Auch das ist heute schon wieder Geschichte. Schicht für Schicht wurde in Schichten abgetragen. Es wurden im Lausitzer Revier 135 Siedlungen devastiert. Insgesamt haben hier 27.500 Menschen Haus und Hof verloren. Viele von ihnen arbeiteten im Revier.
