DavidB 🍥<p><span>Never underestimate the power of the </span><a href="https://firefish.social/tags/Gaijin" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Gaijin</a><span>! <br>The meeting was running way overtime, so after my 10th mosquito bite, I had to take action.<br>See, those kinds of somewhat informal meetings are often not really wanted by the majority of the people involved. In this case, it's one unique mom who seems to revel in those. (I assume that she doesn't get enough recognition at work and her husband has a cool job - he's a local journalist - maybe she's stay-at-home and she's frustrated about it because she wants some sort of social recognition too, etc. A sad common feature with many moms in </span><a href="https://firefish.social/tags/Japan" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Japan</a><span> don't blame them, blame the patriarchy, but I'm getting sidetracked here.)<br><br>I was saying that while this mom enjoys the whole super long meeting for no reason, all the other moms don't, they want to go home, but nobody is going to say a thing, because this is Japan and everyone is afraid to be the one that sticks out and that involves speaking out.<br><br>So, I just very politely got in, said sumimasen but we need to go. And suddenly all the other moms had to go to. Bam! Meeting over in a matter of seconds.<br><br>I guess that now, I'm very popular with all the moms but one.</span></p>
