Jerry D. Harris 🦕👣<p>The Ming Sha Dune Field near Dunhuang, western Gansu Province, China. These 400+ ft. (120+ m) dunes are part of the Kumtag Desert (a section of the larger Taklamakan Desert). These dunes "sing" (although I never had the chance to hear it!). The famous Mogao Grottoes lie along the edge of this field. <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/geology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>geology</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/geoscience" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>geoscience</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/china" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>china</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/gansu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gansu</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/desert" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>desert</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/naturalhistory" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>naturalhistory</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/sedimentology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sedimentology</span></a></p>
Jerry D. Harris 🦕👣<p>Complex folding in Lower Cretaceous lacustrine shales of the Xiagou Formation, in the foothills of the Qilian Mountains near Nanhu and Changma, Gansu Province, China.
