This Is My Glasgow<p>A Classical Style house built in the 1830s on West George Street in Glasgow. This one of a surprising number of survivors from Glasgow's Georgian new town which was centred on Blythswood Hill, but it's one of the few to retain its original facade pretty much unaltered.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>architecture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecturephotography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>architecturephotography</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowhistory" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowhistory</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/georgianarchitecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>georgianarchitecture</span></a></p>

This Is My Glasgow<p>An 1830s Georgian villa on Saint George's Road in Glasgow. Glasgow had a quite a specific pattern of development as the city expanded. First, individual villas, like this one, were build on the outskirts of the city, then came the terraces of grand townhouses, followed by block of tenements as the population density increased. This is the last remaining original villa on the Woodside area of Glasgow.</p><p>Cont./</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>architecture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/georgianarchitecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>georgianarchitecture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgowbuildings" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>glasgowbuildings</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/woodside" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>woodside</span></a></p>

This was built as part of the Blythswood New Town, one of the first major westward expansions of the city in the early 1800s.
