To all people shocked about the 90€ / $90 price tag of the new Mario Kart and similar rumours about GTA 6:

Video game prices have been stable for 40 years, while production costs have been skyrocketing ever since. It may sound harsh, but a price increase is long overdue.

See it this way: With a higher one-time payment, we can keep traditional video games alive and prevent the "Games as a service" cancer from devouring the industry.

@COMPU73E They can charge whatever they want and they will. My prediction is a "cheap" standard edition for 99 $|€, a "premium standard" with 3 days early access and some in-game items for 129 $|€ and an "ultimate edition" for some exorbitant price. The latest CoD or Destiny Deluxe/Premium editions were already like 99-109€, so even 149$|€ wouldn't be that surprising 🤔

I'm not interested in #GTA6 but I'm worried about the snowball effect of continuously rising game prices.

Una cosa que me preocupa del futuro #GTA6 no es el juego en sí, que me da un poco igual porque no he sido un gran fan de la saga, si no de lo que se supondrá para la industria. Se les nota que a todos los grandes estudios quieren subir el precio de los #videojuegos mas allá de los 80 pavos pero no se atreven por el efecto negativo en su imagen. Y me da que están esperando a que el GTA6 valga 100 euros para que abra la veda y todos vayan detrás.
