It's not often that we get a helicopter just hanging out in front of the house!

I guess it's easier to just fly new utility poles in, rather than dealing with all the switchbacks, trees, and other obstacles in our location. Of course I wish they'd do this on weekends instead of interrupting my electrical service during the workday, but it was still neat to see.

This is the closest I've ever been to a running helicopter. It was surprisingly quiet (maybe something to do with the dual rotor setup?) and WOW was it agile! Maybe someone who knows more about helicopters has an idea?

If you are in #Belgium and you want something to see/do that is out of the ordinary, the #Verbeke Foundation in #Stekene is worth considering.

Apart from a discarded Russian #helicopter, there are old trains and vehicles and about every other industrial heritage item you can think of (there is even a full blown nucleair shelter!) Also temporal and permanent expositions of Belgian and international artists.

In fact, there is so much to see that you time will be shorthanded.

Chief Warrant Officer Andrew Eaves, had 1,000 hours of flight time, which is considered experienced. The co-pilot, whose name is being withheld, had 500 hours, which is considered normal.

Officials also tell NPR that the #BlackHawk was supposed to be flying at a maximum of 200 feet, though sources say it was flying at least 100 feet higher. All requested anonymity given the sensitivity of the investigation.
