One of the first computers was #WilliaminaFleming Born 1857 she became one of the most prominent astronomers of her time yet we do not know a lot about her. I discovered her work while researching female computers for an exhibition and fast forward I‘m transcribing her journals in preparation for a story! She discovered 310 stars, 10 novae & 52 nebulae, including the #horseheadnebula! This will be my biggest undertaking yet! #comic #graphicnovel #femalecomputers #herstory #geschichte #computer
#HorseheadNebula + #FlameNebula taken from #Oxfordshire, UK on 2nd January 2025. 70mm refractor, astro-modded #Canon1100D #AltairQuadbandFilter. 65x90sec at ISO-3200 #Astrophotography #Nebula #Space #Barnard33
The #HorseheadNebula, a #darknebula located in the constellation #Orion approximately 1,500 light-years away from Earth, is best observed during its annual culmination at astronomical midnight mid December.

Wooooaaahhhh!
The new JWST image of a small bit of the Horsehead Nebula is INCREDIBLE.
To give you a sense of scale here, here’s an image of the nebula from my backyard. That small white box … that’s the JWST field of view!
Look at ALL those galaxies, all in that tiny white box.

Dodgy image with white boxes is my own.
When it's cloudy outside, you can always work with photos you've taken before. This is an image of the Horsehead Nebula that is composited of different images taken one year apart with different telescopes and cameras. #astrophotography #horseheadnebula

Well well well, what’s this horse-like nebula coming into view? Inspired by ESA‘s Euclid first color images, this #watercolor #painting should be done soon!

ORION under alpine skies
I had three clear nights under dark alpine skies in a row and decided to simply point my camera at the same thing every night. With over 9 h of exposure, this is the most time I've dedicated to a single photo so far.

#SkyWatch #Astrophotography The #FlameNebula and #HorseheadNebula are star formation areas in the #Orion molecular cloud about 1300-1500 light years from Earth. I captured five 2 minute exposures Saturday night before the clouds rolled in. I stacked and processed them in SiriL and GIMP. I'm pretty happy with my post-processing in this image but I am clearly #StillLearning.
Got the telescope out for the first time since leaving on this leg of our travels. This is a single 10 minute Ha exposure of the horsehead nebula. This is probably the most detail I've seen out of a single exposure since I've started. Excited to see how this one turns out. #AstroPhotography #HorseheadNebula
Space horsey!
I challenged myself to finally finish it, you guys will have to tell me if it was worth it?
This piece has been put aside more than any other I've done. I didn't feel like I was doing the reference photo any justice.
I find real objects more challenging, there's an expectation for it to look right. I've accepted I'm allowed to put my own interpretation on it. I'm now excited to tackle more DSOs!
Speaking of #Astrodon …
This is the #horseheadnebula and he #flamenebula imaged in HSS (I don’t have an Oiii filter yet, maybe next year!).
