I've to build one since I was 12 and my crush/best friend at the time's dad built him a PC and we played wayyy to much Red Alert 2:Yuri's Revenge. So I decided to do an inaugural Elden Ring run and redo what I had done to beat the game the first time ( I started playing just post Radahn patch and beat Shadows of the Erdtree pre Consort Radahn patch ). Golden Retriever GF<p><span>We had our work Weihnachtsparty on Monday. The second I have attended from this job. Last year I was mostly quiet and didn't talk. My German was good but to take part in conversation with Germans ehhh not so much.<br><br>This time I got to take part in a lot of conversations with a lot of different "clicks" in the restaurant. Talk about my transition. My likes and dislikes. Etc etc and got to see a coworker struggle in silence like I did last year. She's taken her test and she's on the border between B1 and B2. It was bittersweet to see and reminisce while also my growth as a coworker and a ability to speak and integrate into Germany and German culture has escalated so. damn. much.<br><br>It's been such a nice feeling. One of the easiset ways to measure growth is how easy it is to talk with someone in a language that's not yours. There were hiccups yeah, sure. Golden Retriever GF<p><span>I replied to a coworker today and my boss told me "You are the most German person in this room. The coworker had asked "Alles Klar?" ( everything okay ) and I replied with "Muss" ( Must ). The thing is that I was a terrible American. I did not fit in anywhere.<br><br>My mentality of always improving, always trying to be better, but never being able to achieve it was considered admirable but alien. Everything from my humor to conversation topics to politics were "odd". I was therefore nobody's best friend. Skipped for promotions etc. I received a higher promotion within 3 years of moving here, with corresponding raise and title than I did working my ass off in the USA.<br><br>In Germany however I fit right in. Yes it took a bit of integration. Yes it's expected for people seeking citizenship and immigration to integrate into Germany beyond how much Germans would. But honestly here I feel comfortable even if I know Germany is struggling like almost every country.<br><br>I have to say that not just on matters of integration, if you feel like a puzzle piece that just doesn't fit, maybe you're in the wrong spot. Be it town, country, relationship, sexuality, friend group, gender, career, etc etc. It's okay to experiment. It's okay to question. Okay to leave. Okay to pick up and start over and when you do, it's okay to be wrong.<br><br>Obvs do this with wisdom, unless it's hair, that blue will look gorgeous darling, but it's okay it's okay it's okay. You'll fit somewhere. Don't try to pound yourself in. Golden Retriever GF<p><span>My boss said she had too much Hack could I please make lasagna for the staff. Nobody can replicate my Bolognese. Nobody can replicate my pizza dough. And at this point the cheapest entree on my current menu is more expensive than the most expensive on my first. <br><br>My boss's husband said "I remember when you started here. You were good but now you could work anywhere". Improvement takes time. Skill takes an eternity to build and I'm still learning. I never would have guessed I'd be a cook 10 years ago. I'd never thought I could move to another country in two suitcases and lean a language either. You never know your limits til you push them <br><br>And you will never know who you are or what you're capable of you let people place you in a box. Don't let people tell you who you are. <br><br>I renewed my visa yesterday. Long enough to push me to when I can apply for a permanent stay visa and citizenship. If you let yourself try, fail, get up, learn and push some more, fail again, try again then you'll never know what you'll achieve. <br><br>I'm officially in Germany now for three years. Officially almost married. Officially got all of my transition work done and am almost a decade now in my career.
