Listening to some music. The Algorithm Overlords surfaced this band for me, and I clicked on them because, hey, as a math person, I agree that i is a number:

...and I kinda like 'em!

FWIW, other Japanese bands that I like and think you should check out: Otokobe Beaver; ATARASHII GAKKO (I think all-caps is mandatory?), Wanima, and...some others I don't recall at the moment.

Well, @ojou came in BIG with the clutch move today: wanted to see yama live but it required a Japanese phone number, and phone (eTickets only). He answered the call and holy shit I'm so thankful for it because this concert was AMAZING.

Even got a good laugh from nearby audience when, during a brief downtime, I yelled out "この外人はヤマが大好きだ" ("Kono gaijin wa yama ga daisuki" - "This foreigner loves yama!")

Videos will be uploaded when I'm back on wifi, but here's a pic to whet your appetites :D

EDIT: Also I should add he's just a cool dude. Had dinner after, chatted a bunch, shared his knowledge of Japan, and more. Tonight was just all around fantastic.

I thought of this before any KPop and it's one of my favourite Japanese tracks from the last few years. The bass line, the vibe, it's so good, and, keeping with the theme, the video features a very prominent amusement park ride.

(P.S. The DAZBEE cover of this is also very good).
