Little Feat - Little Feat
LA bands were *weird* back in the late 60s/early 70s. You think of the faux cowboy Eagles, the tin-pan Tom Waits, the hippie-hating Zappa freaking out, the louche Doors, and the kinda bluesy, kinda southern boogie Little Feat... it's a diverse crew (and there are many more).
This is altogether different than the later albums, with far more blues, and it deserves a place with their best.
When I first heard #littlefeat, I was mystified. I had gone to music college. I thought I knew my shit. And here comes Little Feat, with an inspired mix of jazz, blues and soul. I'm still impressed and inspired by how they don't hold themselves to traditional song structure.
I have personal connections to many songs (Willin' especially) but if I could perform one song, it'd be Skin It Back.
