at a housewarming in southern manila (an estate without easy access to deliveries). brought a tray of vegan lumpia from cosmic to make sure I would have something to eat.

rainy day longsilog! #makanapatoday
this is longganisa (but made of fish, no pork), garlic fried rice (sinangag), and fried egg (itlog).
it's a portmanteau: long + si + log
At dahil maulan pa rin, at kahapon pa ako nata-@takam kumain nito: **Ginataang Monggo & Mais.**
It's a traditional @pinoy dessert or snack, and a variation of a sweet glutinous rice porridge with mung beans and corn, cooked in coconut milk.
This hits the right spots and brings back memories of care-less, rainy afternoons, and hot bowls of ginataan as a mid-afternoon snack.
The Cacao Nib toppings aren't traditional. I just love their crunch and burst of flavor in your mouth.
Feeling a bit bloodthirsty tonight

khao kee corner house san juan
after a failed attempt at joining the coffee plz festival, we had lunch at my fave singaporean resto in mnl. this is the egg and shrimp fried rice and salted egg squid. this set costs around 500. if you haven't been to corner house yet, definitely check it out as there's usually a weekend market or some event happening. (this has caused a lot of traffic in that area all the way up to greenhills because the clientele always brings cars...)
mabuhay craft coffee san juan
the ube latik latte and kouignsaymada (kouign amann x ensaymada). this latte is definitely more of a dessert but I'm not complaining. the crunchy latik on top makes it unique -- it's like drinking puto bumbong. kouignsaymada is 10/10.
they have other interesting creations like the dirty skrambol and champorado lattes. was actually supposed to attend the coffee tasting festival (12-13 july) at corner house, but there were way too many people.
This was an unusual dish that I found. Sabahan Kerabu Agar. It's a spicy salad with the seaweed that is used to make Agar, the stuff that we put in petri dishes. The agar has a nice texture and it soaks up the spicy sauce well.

My 20-hour yogurt experiment, made with a 4th generation starter I originally made from chili stems.
Yes! Thai durian chips are really yummy but fresh, local durian, hybrid or wild, are also awesome!
I'm still itching for a chance to try out that mysterious Duyaya durian from down south.
Malaysian breakfasts are very colourful. Here's a Nasi Kerabu. Blue rice with herbs and fish sauce. With a side of fish crackers and a sambal egg.
