All these recent "articles" and toots about #Python becoming the most #popular programming language on #Github are driving me nuts. And I say that as a long-time Python user and fan of the #language.

Even if you could define what exactly "#popularity" is in relation to some Github #statistics, it is #meaningless and pointless.

You know what matters in a #programming language?

Does it enable you to #solve the #problems that need solving?

Does it have tooling that meets your needs?

The latest lawsuit challenges Mississippi law that allows mailed ballots to be counted if they are postmarked by election day (November 5th) and received within five days of election day.
The three judges hearing the appeal: all appointed by Donald Trump.

Other efforts to block valid ballots focus on “#meaningless and #inconsequential paperwork errors” (Pennsylvania panel of state judges).

#Project2025 is also steeped in the #CultureWars: the doc characterizes so many elements of governance as #woke – the woke #treasury department, woke #weather reports – that the term is rendered #meaningless. It also describes the country as run by “#elites” – though not, apparently, the elites that run heavyweight Washington thinktanks.

If you are #skeptical that these sorts of large-scale, centrally-planned #interventions can solve social problems that have existed in #human #societies for hundreds or thousands of years, then you fall towards the bottom end of the #rationalism axis.

If you think about your #beliefs in these two areas, you might find yourself #surprised at where you fit on the chart, and what other belief systems fall near you. It's a lot more #insightful than the #meaningless left-right single axis.

@jaykuo probably more symbolic than anything. His endless appeals will keep it tied up in court for years, guaranteeing he will never see the inside of a jail cell.

That’s assuming Trump doesn’t re-occupy the White House in ‘24- remember, he’s promised to immediately pardon a long list of far right criminals & domestic terrorists the minute he’s sworn in.
