This was an interesting juxtaposition for me to Metroid II. Both games are quite linear and do a good job of letting the player feel like they "broke" the game when they find something off that path.The first time I played Fusion at release, I didn't like it. I didn't like all the dialogue and I didn't like the game gating my progress. I think now the gating is important. It makes the payoff when those gates start to break much more fun.Apparently I'm just going to blast through a bunch of Metroid games now. I'll try the GBA NES Classic version of Metroid next. Damn this boss is hard. 😬 I kinda figured out a semi-reliable tactic to kite it around the screen during the long final phase, but it still took me multiple attempts and I lost tons of health anyway. I made it to the next save room, so I don't have to beat it again. IrgndSonDeppI took a break from Rocket Knight Adventures and finally put some real time into <a href="https://gts.da-miez.de/tags/metroidfusion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#MetroidFusion</a>. I've started the game at least three times in the past, but I was never quite in the right mood. It fits perfectly right now. I made it to the boss fight with Nightmare, which I think is more than halfway through the game. I breezed through the early game, but the later bosses are surprisingly tough. It gets surprisingly difficult towards the end, but with the ability to save state whenever I want I was able to push through some of the more frustrating moments.All in all, I fantastic experience that only makes me more interested in playing more games in the franchise (I'm at two now, this and Prime).As for my lil' handheld, wow.
