If you're not aware of the excellent #readeck it's probably best described as a self-hosted #mozilla #pocket replacement

You can find the official site here: readeck.org/en/

and now there's also an android mobile app in the works, though I don't think it's aligned with the original project, here: github.com/jensomato/ReadeckAp

where you can download beta apks

The announcement of “Thundermail” (I.e. Thunderbird Pro) reads more like envy than a valid justification for monetisation.

Sure, Thunderbird might remain free, but it sows doubts as to whether any meaningful new feature will be added to it.

Why anyone would believe that they will intentionally hamper their own monetisation efforts for goodwill at this point, is frankly beyond me.

The enshitification of software continues…

Update: Account successfully deleted. Tried again after a few days and it just worked™ without errors. I'm still uncertain why this happened or why there would be a time limit in the first place.

Original post: Trying to delete my #Firefox account via accounts.firefox.com gives me this. Appeared the first time i tried, re-appeared after a 15 min. wait and still appears an hour later. Any hints would be greatly appreciated. #mozilla #gdpr #dsgvo

I don't have Bing configured as my default search engine, I don't even have Bing configured as a search engine in #Firefox, and yet here it is after the latest update.

Is this another of #Mozilla user hostile decisions?

Continued thread

Wow so the #Mozilla engineer disagrees and claims "#GDPR has done a great deal of harm" (I didn't understand his argument why) but now diverted to saying the #browser should be the platform collect all the personal data and then provide it in aggregated form to advertisers.

This would "give control to people while also unlocking the data". 🥱

And all in a sudden, #SurveillanceAdvertising is not a #humanrights issue any more but merely a question of "governance".

@ryanleesipes can you raise a serious proposal with the board towards changing the legal name, even something simple like Thunderbird Technologies, like whatever.

Once Mozilla and Firefox were an asset to be associated with, I fear that Firefox and Mozilla are both very much tanking in 2025 with their decision to start selling out on user data.

I’ve always loved Firefox and been a strong advocate but the recent changes cut deep, we all know too well the odor that enshitification gives off when companies start to sell out on their users.

#browser market share 2024/25:

This is serious! #chrome is taking over the internet like #microsoft did the same about 30 years ago with the Internet Explorer.

Thanks to the world wide success of the #apple #iphone and #ipad the #safari browser comes second. The rest is dust. Including #mozilla #firefox.

With #google Chrome winning the browser race they can dictate web techlologies. Keep in mind, that Google is an advertising company in the first place ...
