Here goes something! Today begins our dive into the 1e corebook for Changeling: the Lost, a chomker of a text that will take a trilogy of episodes to get through. But it's a deep well of ideas for any game, so we hope you'll find something to use and appreciate. Stories of abduction and return, Wyrd and Glamour, seemings and kiths, Courts and Contracts... and this is just the first half. 🌵

What went on behind the scenes in between Changeling: the Dreaming and Changeling: the Lost? We can't claim to have uncovered ALL the secrets, but today we're digging up at least a few details as we talk with Pete Woodworth about the process of writing and developing from one game to the other. Peek into the Hedge and see what we learned... 🚪

Stories and context abound: changelingthepodcast.com/podca

We draw ever closer to the Hedge this week as we discuss the intro materials for Changeling: the Lost's first edition. The quickstart rules and demo adventure, the screen and character sheet pad, the fancy dice... all this preliminary stuff set the game's aesthetic and stoked the hype. Looking to dip your toes in? Well, have we got a dank and mysterious kiddie pool for you! 📗

And now for something completely (well, significantly) different...! Pooka and Fetch join forces to discuss the (new) World of Darkness corebook, 1st edition. Released in 2004, this is the ur-text for Changeling: the Lost, readthroughs of which will be ongoing this Season. If you've never delved into nWoD—or maybe even if you have?—now's your chance to learn a thing or two... 🌃

Share your top 5 settings, regardless of system:

1) Middle-earth: The classic, although not fully realized at the table until 1e, although MERPS has cool extensions to the geography

2) : A fully realized mythic world in many ways. I don't always love it but it rolls up so many loves.

3) : Perfect example of hard(ish) sci-fi roleplay

4) : Aetherpunk pulpy goodness

5) New World of Darkness: is the best urban fantasy/horror sandboxes

I occasionally get fixated on little projects.

At one point, I created a spreadsheet of NPCs for an alien abduction game. (PCs were changelings and mages, reskinned.)

I decided on a % of Wash DC populace affected by abductions, then generated NPC’s based on labor statistics and accurate demographic representation.

Each NPC got random XP, then got assigned a number of life-changing events equal to their gnosis/wyrd, with the last one being their current agenda.

*Big* sandbox.

Today's article is definitely a work in progress (), and I could use some feedback.
I posit some possible strong and weak arcana for the old Ascension factions in the Awakening system, and a tiny explanation of why for each one.

I'm a pro gamemaster on Startplaying.
I can run (any edition, but esp. 3.5 and 5.0), Pathfinder 1e, GURPS, Mutants and Masterminds, Chronicles of Darkness (any game line), FATE, Genesys, and Scion 1e (and more!) . I have settings for all, but I can also build to suit your group.
