Shame on CA Senator Alex Padilla for sponsoring the so-called Fix Our Forests Act, a Trojan Horse bill that won't protect communities, but will codify Trump’s attacks on forests. It facilitates logging old-growth trees that are naturally fire resilient, cuts regulations to protect endangered species, & blocks public input and judicial review.

The Sitka spruce with swooping branches. The Western hemlock with roots fanned at its base. The Jeffrey pine whose fragrant bark smells of butterscotch and vanilla.

These trees owe their existence to the Northwest Forest Plan. But the plan that has defended these trees for the past 30 years could be warped to suddenly spell their demise.

The Forest Service is considering amending the plan to double or even triple the amount of commercial logging within 17 national forests.
