I actually loved this movie. It's nothing like what I thought it would be and actually a very beautiful film. I'm not completely sure I understand though. I think I need to read more about it. If it's just kindness and polarity then it seems simple, but I wouldn't be surprised if I'm missing a lot, maybe too subtle even for me.

Latest read I just finished Pride and Prejudice. Oh it was so good 🔥. I had watched the BBC miniseries about 20 years ago , and remembered the basics. I absolutely fell in love with the text though and the characters of Elizabeth, Mr. Darcy and Mrs and Mr. Bennet. I have a lot of thoughts on this story.

Now, I’m trying to write a kind of story inspired by this and other Austen stuff but for a trans girl as the FMC lead. Will I ever finish? 😅

"There is a stubbornness about me that never can bear to be frightened at the will of others.
My courage always rises at every attempt to intimidate me."

I picked up an ebook today called The Unlikely Pursuit of Mary Bennet. It’s a sapphic romance in which Charlotte Lucas and Mary Bennet presumably get involved after the demise of Mr. Collin’s.

It’s got some accuracy issues regarding the Collin’s household but I can probably live with that. I likely won’t do a full review but obviously #PrideAndPrejudice fans need to know it exists.

Particularly those of us who have always held that Charlotte was in love with Elisabeth. :blobcathearthug:

PRIDE AND PREJUDICE by Jane Austen ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Absolute perfection 🥰 I was still in need of a comfort re-read and tumbled right in and loved it just as much as the first time I read (and the second, and the fifth, and the twelfth). My enjoyment was also helped by the brilliant low-budget 1995 BBC series reenactment by Ben Fensome on Instagram and TikTok (do look it up if you’re on one of those platforms, it’s so much fun!).

LETTERS FROM PEMBERLEY and MORE LETTER FROM PEMBERLEY by Jane Dawkins ⭐⭐⭐
Because I had a hard time quitting that world but didn’t want to start on another Austen right away. These letters are a sweet continuation of P&P, even if the author tries rather too hard to get every author Austen heroine in there under another name. Especially the second book has some heart-breaking parts.

LEGENDBORN by Tracy Deonn (in progress).
Slowly getting gripped by this Arthurian-inspired YA fantasy. It’s taking some time to set up the world, but I’m liking where it’s taking me so far. Bree as a main character is absolutely a teenager, but not too hormonally so (often my trouble spot when reading YA). I’m curious where the story will take me!

LEGENDBORN by Tracy Deonn (in progress)
Wanted to read this for a while now, and it’s quite good so far! Pacy, intriguing, and not too hormonally YA so far.

PRIDE AND PREJUDICE by Jane Austen (in progress)
Because I still seem to need comfort re-reads, and there’s no better one than P&P. I’d forgotten how relentlessly paced this. But I hadn’t forgotten how snarky 😊
