The #Italian defence company #Leonardo has been given a £165m contract extension by the #British government for its work maintaining the #RoyalNavy’s fleet of 54 #MerlinHelicopters, in a sign of the impact of the #UK’s commitment to ramp up #defence spending.

#KeirStarmer’s government, which is planning to increase #military spending to 2.5% of GDP by 2027, said the deal with Leonardo would help to bolster #NationalSecurity.

This is a recording of the talk given by Fiona Grahame which relates the stories of some of the men who lost their lives when M-class destroyer struck a mine off Rora Head, Orkney on 1st March 1917. The book, HMS Pheasant 1917 - who were the lost men and boys, is available from all good bookstores worldwide.

Catching up with some quiz programmes on TV and there was mention of "the Spithead mutiny" which I'd not heard of before, but which I wondered if it might be connected to #Portsmouth given that we have a Spithead near us. It was.
