My 25 years of palaeoart chronology...

The 2022 Korean translation of Locked in Time (by Dr Dean Lomax & published by Columbia University Press) commissioned me to colourise my 50 greyscale illustrations. "A whisper at twilight" shows an eclipse of moths migrating across the North Sea.

Happy birthday to French mathematician, physicist and philosopher Marie-Sophie Germain (1776 – 1831), known as Sophie. She taught herself mathematics using books in her father’s library and by corresponding with leading mathematicians of her day, including Lagrange, Legendre and Gauss, initially using the pseudonym Monsieur LeBlanc. 🧵1/n

My 25 years of palaeoart chronology...

Made a 3d model of the bones of a horse's lower leg. This is for some "bigger" projects I'd like to work on; including tendons/movement of the joints and hoof/foot anatomy and function.

It's not perfect, but should work for getting started.

Some people assume I'm a sculptor, but I'm mostly a box-modeller. These pics are of the same model. The one on the right has a modifier that ups the resolution and smooths it so it "looks" more detailed.

My final Canadian 🇨🇦 province #linocut is my home #province #Ontario along with its symbols, the common #loon and trillium. The block was inked 'à la poupée' (with different colours, black, green and yellow, in different areas) and printed by hand on lovely Japanese kozo (or mulberry) paper.

Ontario is where I was born and where I now call home. Growing up on Lake Ontario I was always aware of our region being defined by the Great Lakes, 🧵1/2

Migraine-induced insomnia tonight, so have some more pics of the spider organs 3d model. A few tweaks since last pics; had to adjust the positions of some organs to match up with the outside of the body.

Got the abdomen ready to print, so we'll see how it goes!

Next in my Canada 🇨🇦 series: the Northwest Territories with its territorial symbols the gyrfalcon and mountain avens flowers on my hand-carved linocut map of NWT. The block was inked 'à la poupée' (with different colours, gray-brown, green and yellow, in different areas) and printed by hand on lovely Japanese kozo (or mulberry) paper.
