It's nestled in a hollow, known as a corrie, carved out by a glacier during the last ice age, and is surrounded by a horseshoe of three munros (the name given to a mountain over 3000 ft in height in Scotland). These are Ben Lawers (left), An Stùc (middle), and Meall Garbh (right).

There's something very Scottish about this view from Lang Craigs, just to the west of Glasgow. It's not the sheep in the foreground, or the snow-capped Ben Lomond in the distance - it's the tree which has grown with a curved trunk due to the pressure from the ever-present prevailing wind!
Today's view across Glasgow and beyond from the flagpole in Queen's Park on the Southside of the city, with the slightest dusting of snow just visible on the highest parts of the Campsies.
Another photo from my trip up into the Arrochar Alps on Sunday. The main peaks you can see (left to right) are Beinn Narnain (926m) The Cobbler (884m), and The Brack (787m) as seen from Beinn Luibhean (860m).

...doubtless those around here with bigger cameras and longer lenses will have better photos but the fact this is handheld from the phone suggests how close they came around the headland. Perfect timing after the walk down the beach from Rosemarkie
Another fine place for a gentle weekend walk, the impressive 5 metre-high Duirinish standing stone overlooking Dunvegan... It's not as old as it may seem. Well, the rock itself is ... But it's not been in place as long as long as you might imagine.
