My 25 years of palaeoart chronology...

The 2022 Korean translation of Locked in Time (by Dr Dean Lomax) commissioned me to colourise my 50 greyscale illustrations. "The Hunters and the Hunted" shows a snake (Eoconstrictor) about to eat a basilisk lizard (Geiseltaliellus), about to eat a beetle (unidentified).

i love these little garter snakes. they were all slithering around the forest floor next to (and across) the path i was on. since all the leaves and grass are still dry i could hear them before i could see them. they were just doing lots of exploring of their little world and looking at me with mild curiosity before moving on to look for nice spots to sit in the sun

a stripey brown, black and yellow snake slithers up over a large chunk of decaying wood. their pink and black tongue is out smelling the world and their face is illuminated by the sun showing off their shiny orange and black eye. the rest of their long body trails off the right side of frame.
