And the weak is of course what it sees as non-people (illegalized and/or native), almost-people (black & some), worthless people (the "hard working" white middle class).
But it totally doesn't stop there. Being a successful #business doesn't help you not being preyed on, having your assets stripped away from you, being forced to pay rent on what you once owned + having #CDO's loaded onto you.

The “world’s worst digital dash”, a Nintendo Game Boy as a digital speedometer. Interfacing the handheld with the vehicle’s CAN bus system, this project has something to offer.

Showing real-time vehicle speed on the Game Boy sounds like it should be relatively easy, but the iconic game system wasn’t exactly built for such a task. Its 2 MHz CPU and 160×144 pixel dot-matrix screen were every kid’s dream in 1989, but using it as a car dashboard is pushing it. To bridge that gap, [John] designed two custom circuit boards.
One interfaces with the Game Boy, intercepting its memory requests and feeding it data from a microcontroller. The other processes the CAN bus signals, translating speed information into a form the Game Boy can display. They are upgrading the #software running a #radar I work with. One of the tests is obviously how good the data looks. The new software has higher standard deviations than the old software (#statistics)
And that's it. They are trying to debug it based on just the std dev.
I looked at one of the tracks and there was clearly a time dependent trend.
I keep telling them and telling them that just thinking in terms of "standard deviation" is making them assume gaussian #noise sources.
But if you look at the #data as a *time series*, you will start thinking about the processing and what would be happening at different points in a track and how it might go wrong starting at certain points.
It's a purely software #engineer team--they know about radar (more than I do!), but aren't #system engineers.
It's been going on long enough that I want to say something to someone higher up. But I don't want to adopt another project....

In this painting, I wanted to explore two themes. On one hand, I aimed to juxtapose three types of "framed images" - in the background, there's a window revealing an overexposed image, next to it, an actual painting on canvas in darkness, and in the foreground, two glowing screens. Through this composition, I wanted to highlight the distinct characteristics of these three image types (a meta-painting commentary).
The second theme I wanted to address is the presence of technology in everyday life. In my paintings, I have explored the visual representation of life with computers and in the virtual world. I concluded that the best way to illustrate this was by showing technology's impact on our surroundings and bodies. The painting depicts my brother's computer setup from a few years ago. I remember it with nostalgia. Back then, my brother used two refurbished monitors and a computer that he later gave me when he upgraded to a better one. On the desk, there’s a pair of headphones - the same model we kept buying for years out of habit until they stopped making them. All of those headphones met the same fate - ending up with a broken plug that we couldn't fix because, after replacing it, only one side would work. My brother cut off all those cables and kept them "for later." "Later" came a few years ago when I started exploring technology-related themes in my art. I began attending events with a few of my favorite (headphones) cables tied around my waist as a belt.

As part of my series, I created paintings depicting "marginal" spaces where system elements, cables, and devices, are hidden. In this painting, I chose the space under a desk, where all the cables hang. This space is illuminated by the red light of a power strip.
