This is quite the dilemma for Kirk. He's got Major Christopher who has a life on Earth waiting for him (with a family), but yet can't send him back with knowledge of the Enterprise (at the risk of Christopher altering the future).
And it gets even better. Christopher's son will head the first successful Earth-to-Saturn mission (a significant event in Earth's history).
