As I work on my projects I find it incredibly hard to focus just on writing. I HAVE to start doing layout, and adapt my writing to the layout. I've finally accepted that's fine.
The eye needs catering. Style IS part of the substance, and the layout is extremely important in relaying information, and establishing a vibe. A functional, evocative layout can elevate any rules or adventure into a whole new level, and that can be seen in some of the best games out there.

A game that is between two other design styles is simply that. It feels as though folks use the term in the same derogatory manner training wheels and bumper rails gets applied, which can lead to cool games getting delegated as disposable.
