S. John Ross<p>I approach every day with this: </p><p>Any idiot can write a book, many of them do, and this explains most books.</p><p>And then I hug the exceptions and let them remind me of the good stuff.</p><p><a href="https://dice.camp/tags/TTRPGDesign" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>TTRPGDesign</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/TTRPGWriting" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>TTRPGWriting</span></a></p>
jubjef<p>Hey <a href="https://tabletop.social/tags/CallOfCthulhu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CallOfCthulhu</span></a> keepers / players / writers: what alternatives to ‘start a fight’ are interesting for ‘stop the ritual’ style games? I’m trying to get a scenario finished and want investigators to have options available in the world</p><p><a href="https://tabletop.social/tags/ttRPG" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ttRPG</span></a> <a href="https://tabletop.social/tags/TTRPGWriting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TTRPGWriting</span></a></p>
Ciarán O'Brien<p>This has been a difficult few months of <a href="https://tabletop.social/tags/TTRPGWriting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TTRPGWriting</span></a>. Not that the job was unpleasant, you understand, I fucking love the work, but because Ireland is *fucking useless* at providing mental health supports to anyone who's not a rich wanker.</p><p>Time for a well-earned rest.</p><p>I can't talk about anything I've written yet, but I *can* show you one of the books I've been using for reference material 👀</p>
SoloRunStudio<p>The biggest problem with doing your own layout is that the content you have to cut to make things fit is your own.</p><p><a href="https://dice.camp/tags/ThePainIsReal" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>ThePainIsReal</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/TTRPGwriting" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>TTRPGwriting</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/TTRPGlayout" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>TTRPGlayout</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/LayoutProblems" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>LayoutProblems</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/WritingProblems" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>WritingProblems</span></a></p>
SoloRunStudio<p>There is a weird thrill in going back to read something you wrote awhile back and finding it really compelling.</p><p><a href="https://dice.camp/tags/Writing" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Writing</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/GameDesign" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>GameDesign</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/TTRPG" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>TTRPG</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/TTRPGwriting" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>TTRPGwriting</span></a></p>
Brendan Weir<p>So during the pandemic I got the bug to write a <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/dnd5e" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dnd5e</span></a> adventure. Its a basic 1st level kind of romp through an old temple now in use by brigands. Nothing fancy, but I was stoked as it was my first written thing.</p><p>So I don't know if I want to sell it, or give it away or what, but what I could use on it is some feedback. Is there a place of people willing to do that or a service I need to pay for? Not sure what's out there and available. </p><p><a href="https://techhub.social/tags/TTRPGWriting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TTRPGWriting</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/ttrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpg</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/ttrpgDesign" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpgDesign</span></a></p>
Odds or Stevens<p>What <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/TTRPG" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>TTRPG</span></a> or <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/DnD" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>DnD</span></a> rulebooks or modules do you find to be particularly well written? </p><p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://dice.camp/@SJohnRoss" class="u-url mention">@<span>SJohnRoss</span></a></span> said something yesterday that distracted me all night, thinking about how a strong writer&#39;s voice enhances a TTRPG book.</p><p>I&#39;m not asking about the content or design, but instead I&#39;m curious about which writers/books have the liveliest writing or the most personality on the page. (But feel free to shout out good design too- I always need more books!) </p><p>Boosts appreciated! <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/TTRPGWriting" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>TTRPGWriting</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/GameDesign" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>GameDesign</span></a></p>
