A Red Kite at the Holkham estate.

After hours of watching them and some marsh harriers from the other side of the reserve we got back to the car to head home. I put my camera bag down, luckily my camera wasn’t in it as I turned around and saw it flying low.

Cetti's warbler.

Since nothing else is really happening today, I thought I'd share another bird. This one is rather like a large and particularly loud wren, yet surprisingly hard to spot. Cetti's warblers have spread throughout much of England and Wales, thanks to warmer winters. There are now over 3,000 males (I couldn't find out how many females) with a relatively stable population.

A brown bird, with brown eyes, perched on a branch amongst some brown reeds. Unusually, the bird doesn't appear to be singing.
